For the remainder of the semester, the labs in this class will be looking at the production of masonry units with a small machine called a cinva-ram.
The intentions are as follows:
1. To study the material constituents of concrete masonry
2. To study the means of production
3. To study the systems in which the units are employed
4. To make devices which determine the configuration of the units
5. To expand your way of thinking about masonry systems.
For next Tuesday: We will begin mixing and testing different recipes for concrete masonry, using conventional materials, like sand, aggregate and cement.
We will also test different mixtures using soil, vermiculite and other potential aggregates. Between now and Tuesday acquire the following:

Bring it to school, and clearly label the container's contents.
We will be mixing small quantities of these things in different recipes and proportions, making small test blocks, and testing their load bearing capacity.
